FINALLY another coffee shop other than Starbucks...yay! I was pretty bummed when they shut down Caribou Coffee. When Peets opened I was pleased! I'm a tea drinker for the most part but I had to try their green tea matcha latte. You can order it hot or iced. I love that they give you the option of flavoring the matcha because matcha tends to have a grassy and earthy taste. And you gotta try their dirty chai...Dada dirty dirttyyyyy. I asked the barista what a dirty Chai was and she explained it was just Chai tea with a shot of mocha. Yummmm!!! I won't lie, my only gripe are the prices for these drinks. Eh, it's just like buying a drink from Starbucks. I will miss my Pomegranate Vanilla Oolong iced latte from Caribou:(

I have been a fan of Peets for decades and was shocked and delighted when they came to Downers. Now I am both a fan of the coffee and this particular shop. Phil, the manager, has created a great vibe for the customers and with his Team. They are a true delight. He is curious about how people drink coffee and I like that. The shop itself is excellent. Great place!

New, clean, spacious coffee shop on the corner near the DG train station. One corner down is Starbucks so you have your choice of study spots/coffee shop to hit up. Peet's has a lot of tables and chairs for you to sit and study. The baristas are very knowledgable in the drinks. I ordered a medium matcha tea latte and opted for vanilla instead of simple syrup and it was delicious. The barista recommended to try peppermint next time if I want to try something dangerous haha. I will definitely come back here to study or have a casual first date! Easy parking around the neighborhood. Two hour free street parking and parking garage not too far away. Lots of outside lighting but at night, they have brightly lit lights, too. One small complaint is the music is a tad loud.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Downer Grove. Decent price and a cozy environment. My friend and I we got the Maple Latte and the Matcha Green Tea Latte. The Green Tea was aight, however, I strongly recommend the Maple Latte.

Great coffee bar. I typically order a decaf iced coffee and they always are high quality. The employees here actually smile too, unlike their counterparts at the S-word.

I've been wanting to try out Peet's Coffee for a few months now. I have to admit, I loved Caribou and was a little upset when they started closing up shop. But I don't head to coffee shops very often, so it's not a huge blow. This Peet's is very clean and modern on the inside. There is plenty of seating with small, intimate tables as well as large tables that will fit 6-8 people. There are some healthy pre-packaged snacks like a cheese plate and hummus with carrot sticks ready to go in the fridge unit near the cashier. There is also an array of baked goods like cookies and croissants that were calling myname. The drink menu isn't HUGE but it has everything a coffee shop is supposed to have. And they have regular names for drinks, not the made up names that Startbucks has. I've been here twice in two days and I'm a fan. Yesterday I hopped in quickly to warm up from the cold while walking around doing some shopping at Anderson's Bookstore. I decided to get my standing favorite, a Cafe Au Lait. This usually isn't on the menu - and it wasn't - but the barista knew what it was and it was ready within a minute for me. Delicious, hot and exactly what I ordered. Today I headed back in specifically because yesterday I had earned a check-in offer that I didn't redeem. It was for $1 off a Maple flavored drink. So I ordered a Maple Latte and got a chocolate croissant. The latte was made with care and it was presented beautifully with a swirl design on top. I had my infant daughter with me in the stroller so I only had one hand to handle the coffee, since they give you the cup steaming and with no lid, you have to walk about 15 feet away to the cream/lid station. Needless to say my coffee spilled prior to making it over to where the lids were. I wish the baristas would offer people with their hands full to put the lid on for them. I didn't sit to drink/eat as I had the little one with me, so I headed home. I will remind you NOT to eat a flaky croissant in the car lest you get flakes and crumbs everywhere - looks like I'll be vacuuming the car tonight! I would highly recommend the Maple Latte as well; it's not too sweet and has a smooth finish. For the stroller tolling parents, this location is perfect for a stroller inside as long as it's not crowded. I was able to maneuver the full-sized stroller no problem in here. I will definitely be back!!!

I am a huge fan of Peet's in Downers Grove! Before Peet's opened up, really the only coffee place around was Starbucks across the tracks which is okay, but nothing like Peet's. I come here as often as I can for coffee and I really like the friendly staff, they know my order and always make it right!

I am very much a fan of this place. It is different where the employees want to say hi and develop those kind of small shop relationships. Phil, the Manager, is awesome. And his staff, nearly all, remember the names of all of us in our family. This is the kind of place we want and not the kind that fills a cup of coffee and sends you on your way. We are locals and it means a lot to us. Now the coffee is smooth. Not burnt. And gosh those mochas... YUM! The cherry danish with the door county cherries... really yum. I have enjoyed the salads and the sandwiches and they are a good value. The beans look great when you walk in the door yet I have a Keurig but thats ok... the have k cups! To me this is a great place to kick back, watch trains and enjoy the time spent with the people you are with. Yes, it may not be the fastest place but that is ok. Each drink is made to order not a mass assembly line. Welcome to Downers Grove Peet's! Looking forward to the summer offerings and specialty drinks!

I came to Peet's on a Friday afternoon to work. The staff greeted me with a smile when I entered and they were all calm, cool, and collected, even though it was pretty busy. There is a ton of great seating for such a small space, and the layout/decor is impressive. Even more impressive... my hazelnut latte. This thing was crafted with care by a very attentive barista, and was so yummy. I wish Peet's would pop up on every corner like Starbuck's.

Not the place to go if you have a train to catch. My hubs and I got to Petes with plenty of time to order coffee and make our 8 AM train. But that was not in the cards this morning. This barista is literally the slowest person I've ever encounted. She slowly poured the milk in the customer before me's cup as MY TRAIN WAS PULLING IN THE STATION. Then looked up to figure out the next drink. Maybe the coffee is wonderful and aritsinal but I wouldn't know because I raced out the door before the lady even started making my drink and ran for my train so that I could get to my adult job on time. Give me a break. I will never go back.

I'd been meaning to try it and finally did. Peet's coffee is good! The espresso for sure tastes more fresh than Starbucks although the latte menu options don't seem to have the amount of variety Starbucks has. I visited this location on Thanksgiving Day around midday. I had a bogo e-coupon and I ordered myself a large hot soy salted caramel latte with extra whip. My drink was delicious and I was impressed by the flavors - although the salty savory part was too much for me by the time I reached the bottom of the cup. If I ordered this again I would say no to the sea salt sprinkled on top. I'm used to Starbucks mega sugar loaded drinks so the sea salt part wasn't my favorite here but the caramel and espresso were so smooth. If I had the choice between Starbucks (same street/north the Metra Main Street tracks) and Peet's...I would probably head to Lemon Tree closer to the DG Post Office assuming this was a to go drink. Although I liked Peet's I'd rather visit this location when I could take a seat and enjoy my drink on site. I wasn't a fan of the coffee accessories table location from drink pick up area. To get a lid and cardboard sleeve for my to the brim extra whip drink, I had to carry the drink to another station and stir. I'd prefer if the baristas had lided the drink themselves - maybe the extra whip was why they didn't? I was impressed with the drink creation process as Peet's poured the espresso and then the steamed milk right in front of face. It gave off a handcrafted impression and the baristas were friendly. Overall, this location seems to cater to dine in drinkers. This used to be a Caribou Coffee location and seemed to retain the cozy relax with a hot drink environment. I would love to come back when I can stay a while!

I love Peets. Great place to hang out and chill. I like getting their iced coffee in the summer (haven't been there in the winter yet). It's super refreshing to have a delicious, rich iced coffee while sitting outside in the shade reading a book. You gotta try this place. Also, don't forget to try their great selection of tea.

The coffee is good. Staff is nice. The decor is about the same as it was when it was Caribou. Don't come here with your laptop though. Worst Internet speed I've experienced in the last 15 years. I ran a speed test - less than 200K bps! The FCC stopped considering 200Kbps as broadband Internet speed in 2008! Maybe they did it on purpose because they don't want people hanging out, but they will be missing out on a lot of business, including mine.

Two thumbs up for Peet's maple latte! Their cinnamon hazelnut latte and chocolate dipped macaroons make it to the top of the list too. There are plenty of tables (outlets included) for you to either get loads of work done, or converse with your pals from Midwestern, which is minutes away. The baristas are incredibly friendly and know how to make just about any drink, even if it may not be on the menu. My only concern is that I always seem to have a problem with the wifi connection there. Could just be my computer. Nonetheless, my coffee buzz keeps me sane. Go there!

I first discovered Peet's when I was living in Lincoln Park a year ago for school. Now that I've moved back to the suburbs, it seems as if Peet's has followed me. What started out as one location is now plenty in the Chicagoland area. This specific location is located right by the Downers Grove train station. It is a convenient location for those wanting a quick coffee or breakfast before hopping on the Metra. The first time I came to the DS location I ordered a maple latte. From what I know, this is a relatively new item on the menu. The latte was smooth with just the right amount of milk. The only (subjective) flaw was that it was a bit too sweet. However, it wasn't that artificial sugar sweetness. It really did taste like natural maple; just a bit too much in the drink for my liking. The second time I stopped in was to do some homework. I can at an off time around 10am after the morning rush. There were only a few customers inside so it was nice and quiet - got so much reading done! I had their dark blend of the day. It was so rich and strong, perfect for a morning pick me up! The girl behind the counter was super friendly as well, offering me a piece of cake they had out as samples. While I passed on the cake (due to giving up sweets for Lent) I tried their medium roast coffee, which was just as smooth as the dark roast. Super friendly service, great atmosphere, and delicious drinks! I'll definitely be coming back here more often!

I have to admit that I was sad when this location transitioned from Caribou to Peet's. I've had (and enjoyed) the coffee at Peet's before but this was an especially nice place to either grab a coffee quickly before catching the train or for staying and doing work for a long while. Some changes struck me as very smart - moving the most comfortable chairs to the back of the store and doing away with hi-top tables in particular. Also, the flooring and new paint make everything feel very fresh and clean - it's nice! However, the extended bar area doesn't suit the space at all. I've been here both during a slow evening and during the morning rush and the bar makes everything terribly crowded and makes it hard to maneuver around the store when full. Maybe it's because the staff is still figuring things out, but service was super slow here. The first time I came I was so glad I didn't have to catch a train because it took ten minutes (after ordering) for my coffee to be ready because the drinks were being made one at a time. The coffee is very good but be prepared to wait a long time for it!

Love the lattes here! Maple is delicious. The atmosphere is great too. A little crowded in the late morning but seems to clear up in the early afternoon. Friendly staff! Only complaint is the slow internet.

I was so excited to see a Petes come into the western suburbs. I was really disappointed by the service and the knowledge of the baristra . I ordered cappuccino and got this really milky latte instead. I didn't dare ask the baristra to remake it as she had already shown me a bad attitute. She really had an bad attitude and got really upset when I was asking some questions she felt took to long. I am older and could not see the description sheet she sort of threw at me to read. There was one very nice young woman with short hair that was pleasant to me. I will try it again and hope for a better time
